It is a fully-static 8-bit microcontroller with 1 K×14 EEPROM program memory and 64 bytes of EEPROM data memory. This article discusses a feasibility study for the development of a smart PIC16C84-based security system to prevent both illegal multiplication of commercial softwares and illegal data intrusion. The existence of 64 bytes of EEPROM data memory, enables the system to evolve itself dynamically from time to time.
