Bandung seismicity is affected by a subduction zone passing an arc southward of the city and it is also surrounded by active faults in the area. Past history showed that many earthquakes have occured around Bandung municipality even though no damages have been reported. Because of these facts, the Bandung municipality mayor has formed a task force to deal with disaster mitigation where earthquake is of a lower priority compared to other disaster types. This can be seen from the adopted regulation where the Indonesian aseismic code was not mandatory. Bandung is a city where there is a technological institute in which earthquake engineering is taught, and a research on human settlement institute where knowledge on earthquake engineering is regularly disseminated. Seismic risk analysis has been performed for earthquake vulnerability assessment in the Bandung municipality. Result of the seismic risk analysis indicates that the maximum acceleration at the base rock is 83 gal for 200 years return period. Local ground condition has been taken into account for the ground surface response. An amplification factor of around 2 was anticipated in northern Bandung and around 3 for southern Bandung. The vulnerability assessment evaluated all available possible quantifiable factors to generate a vulnerability index. The result shows that the Bojongloa Kaler is the district where earthquake damage is most likely to occur, the Batununggal is a district where the people are most likely to be helpless when disaster strikes, Surnur Bandung is a district with most important physical facilities, and Andir is a district, with the highest vulnerability index.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_separator css=”.vc_custom_1624528584150{padding-top: 25px !important;padding-bottom: 25px !important;}”][vc_empty_space][megatron_heading title=”Author keywords” size=”size-sm” text_align=”text-left”][vc_column_text][/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_separator css=”.vc_custom_1624528584150{padding-top: 25px !important;padding-bottom: 25px !important;}”][vc_empty_space][megatron_heading title=”Indexed keywords” size=”size-sm” text_align=”text-left”][vc_column_text][/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_separator css=”.vc_custom_1624528584150{padding-top: 25px !important;padding-bottom: 25px !important;}”][vc_empty_space][megatron_heading title=”Funding details” size=”size-sm” text_align=”text-left”][vc_column_text][/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_separator css=”.vc_custom_1624528584150{padding-top: 25px !important;padding-bottom: 25px !important;}”][vc_empty_space][megatron_heading title=”DOI” size=”size-sm” text_align=”text-left”][vc_column_text][/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/4″][vc_column_text]Widget Plumx[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_separator css=”.vc_custom_1624528584150{padding-top: 25px !important;padding-bottom: 25px !important;}”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
