Effective laminate properties are estimated through minimization of the error between known and predicted natural frequencies. Metamodeling is used for approximating the relationship between the material properties and the corresponding natural frequencies. This results in an economical characterization process, applicable to a large number of specimens of various shapes and dimensions. The proposed strategy is first tested on a range of hypothetical composite materials with numerically simulated test results, then applied to reliable published experimental data. It is thus shown to have the potential of a fast and accurate, in-situ characterization tool. © 2009 SAGE Publications.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_separator css=”.vc_custom_1624528584150{padding-top: 25px !important;padding-bottom: 25px !important;}”][vc_empty_space][megatron_heading title=”Author keywords” size=”size-sm” text_align=”text-left”][vc_column_text]Anisotropic plates,Characterization methods,Experimental data,Free vibration characteristic,In-situ characterization,Laminate properties,Material property,Mechanical characterizations,Metamodeling.,Test results[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_separator css=”.vc_custom_1624528584150{padding-top: 25px !important;padding-bottom: 25px !important;}”][vc_empty_space][megatron_heading title=”Indexed keywords” size=”size-sm” text_align=”text-left”][vc_column_text]Anisotropy,Characterization,Laminates,Metamodeling.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_separator css=”.vc_custom_1624528584150{padding-top: 25px !important;padding-bottom: 25px !important;}”][vc_empty_space][megatron_heading title=”Funding details” size=”size-sm” text_align=”text-left”][vc_column_text][/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_separator css=”.vc_custom_1624528584150{padding-top: 25px !important;padding-bottom: 25px !important;}”][vc_empty_space][megatron_heading title=”DOI” size=”size-sm” text_align=”text-left”][vc_column_text]https://doi.org/10.1177/0021998308099008[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/4″][vc_column_text]Widget Plumx[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_separator css=”.vc_custom_1624528584150{padding-top: 25px !important;padding-bottom: 25px !important;}”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
