The results showed that, by inserting the holes, the impact energy absorption characteristic in a progressive buckling can be improved as the starting location of the plastic deformation is always from holes and peak crush force can be decrease, so that the deceleration does not exceed the limit that can injure the passenger when frontal impact occurs. Here, the results of numerical simulations, conducted using an explicit finite element code, are compared with experimental results for various hole diameter. The results shows that the peak crushing force is decrease, while the mean crushing force is relatively constant. © (2013) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_separator css=”.vc_custom_1624528584150{padding-top: 25px !important;padding-bottom: 25px !important;}”][vc_empty_space][megatron_heading title=”Author keywords” size=”size-sm” text_align=”text-left”][vc_column_text]Aluminum extrusion,Axial crushing,Explicit finite element codes,Frontal impacts,Impact,Impact energy absorption characteristics,Numerical and experimental study,Progressive buckling[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_separator css=”.vc_custom_1624528584150{padding-top: 25px !important;padding-bottom: 25px !important;}”][vc_empty_space][megatron_heading title=”Indexed keywords” size=”size-sm” text_align=”text-left”][vc_column_text]Axial crushing,Crashworthiness,Impact,Thin-walled structure[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_separator css=”.vc_custom_1624528584150{padding-top: 25px !important;padding-bottom: 25px !important;}”][vc_empty_space][megatron_heading title=”Funding details” size=”size-sm” text_align=”text-left”][vc_column_text][/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_separator css=”.vc_custom_1624528584150{padding-top: 25px !important;padding-bottom: 25px !important;}”][vc_empty_space][megatron_heading title=”DOI” size=”size-sm” text_align=”text-left”][vc_column_text]https://doi.org/10.4028/www.scientific.net/AMM.393.447[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/4″][vc_column_text]Widget Plumx[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_separator css=”.vc_custom_1624528584150{padding-top: 25px !important;padding-bottom: 25px !important;}”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
