We observed that thermal shock caused the zeolite particles to transform into smaller particles. By fitting a log-normal distribution to the particle sizes on the basis of SEM images, we obtained the average diameter of the particles as a result of thermal shock, which was approximately 1/4 of the initial particle diameter. We propose a model to explain the mechanism of fragmentation as a result of thermal shock. We also introduce a criterion for fragmentation of brittle materials. The proposed model and criterion qualitatively explain why the diameters of zeolite particles resulting from thermal shock are approximately 1/4 of the initial particle diameter.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_separator css=”.vc_custom_1624528584150{padding-top: 25px !important;padding-bottom: 25px !important;}”][vc_empty_space][megatron_heading title=”Author keywords” size=”size-sm” text_align=”text-left”][vc_column_text]Average diameter,Biot number,Log-normal distribution,Particle diameters,SEM image,Thermal activation,Zeolite particles[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_separator css=”.vc_custom_1624528584150{padding-top: 25px !important;padding-bottom: 25px !important;}”][vc_empty_space][megatron_heading title=”Indexed keywords” size=”size-sm” text_align=”text-left”][vc_column_text]Biot number,Breakage criterion,Brittle material,Thermal shock,Zeolite[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_separator css=”.vc_custom_1624528584150{padding-top: 25px !important;padding-bottom: 25px !important;}”][vc_empty_space][megatron_heading title=”Funding details” size=”size-sm” text_align=”text-left”][vc_column_text]This work was financially supported by the Ministry of Research and Higher Education, Republic of Indonesia (Grant No. 310y/I1.C01/PL/2015 ).[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_separator css=”.vc_custom_1624528584150{padding-top: 25px !important;padding-bottom: 25px !important;}”][vc_empty_space][megatron_heading title=”DOI” size=”size-sm” text_align=”text-left”][vc_column_text]https://doi.org/10.1016/j.powtec.2016.07.034[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/4″][vc_column_text]Widget Plumx[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_separator css=”.vc_custom_1624528584150{padding-top: 25px !important;padding-bottom: 25px !important;}”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
