The effect of seed moisture content (0–6 wt%, w.b.), temperature (35–105 °C), pressure (15–25 MPa) and ethanol to seed ratio (0–21%v/w) on the oil recovery was investigated. An optimum oil recovery of 76 wt%, d.b. was obtained (1.6 wt% moisture content, 14%v/w ethanol, 20 MPa, 75 °C, 10 min pressing time). The experimental dataset was modeled using two approaches, viz (i) the Shirato model and (ii) an empirical model using multi-variable non-linear regression. Good agreement between models and experimental data was obtained. Relevant properties of the rubber seed oil obtained at optimum pressing conditions (free fatty acid content, viscosity, density, water and P-content, cold flow properties and flash point) were determined. The pressed rubber seed oil has a relatively low acid value (2.3 mg KOH/g) and is suitable for subsequent biodiesel synthesis.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_separator css=”.vc_custom_1624528584150{padding-top: 25px !important;padding-bottom: 25px !important;}”][vc_empty_space][megatron_heading title=”Author keywords” size=”size-sm” text_align=”text-left”][vc_column_text]Biodiesel synthesis,Cold flow properties,Hydraulic pressing,Non-linear regression,Pressing conditions,Regression model,Rubber seed,Seed moisture contents[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_separator css=”.vc_custom_1624528584150{padding-top: 25px !important;padding-bottom: 25px !important;}”][vc_empty_space][megatron_heading title=”Indexed keywords” size=”size-sm” text_align=”text-left”][vc_column_text]Hydraulic pressing,Regression model,Rubber seeds,Shirato model,Solvent assisted[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_separator css=”.vc_custom_1624528584150{padding-top: 25px !important;padding-bottom: 25px !important;}”][vc_empty_space][megatron_heading title=”Funding details” size=”size-sm” text_align=”text-left”][vc_column_text]The authors thank NWO/WOTRO for a research grant in the framework of the Agriculture beyond Food program.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_separator css=”.vc_custom_1624528584150{padding-top: 25px !important;padding-bottom: 25px !important;}”][vc_empty_space][megatron_heading title=”DOI” size=”size-sm” text_align=”text-left”][vc_column_text]https://doi.org/10.1016/j.indcrop.2016.07.025[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/4″][vc_column_text]Widget Plumx[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_separator css=”.vc_custom_1624528584150{padding-top: 25px !important;padding-bottom: 25px !important;}”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
