Optimisation of luminance-based metrics for lighting in an open-plan dental examination room considering psycho-physiological response of dentists

A series of high-dynamic-range images of a dummy head with artificial teeth in various daylit scenes were collected, post-processed and statistically analyzed with Hdrscope and Evalglare program. The maximum ambient luminance, maximum luminance on the dummy head’s face, and the contrast between the dummy head’s oral cavity and face were found significant. The most optimum combination of the relevant metrics was determined using genetic algorithm.
