This study aims to survey the occupants’ preference of the acoustic condition in a university library through objective and subjective measurement. Room acoustics simulation using 2 sources and 4 receivers with on-site background noise data was carried out to measure the T30, RASTI and C50. Meanwhile, for the subjective survey, sixty visitors (36 males, 24 females) with an age range between 17 – 28 y.o (Mean = 20.43, SD = 2.18) participated in answering the questionnaire about the soundscape and occupants’ preferences of the sonic environment. A semantic differential model using 6 rating scales was used in the questionnaire and Principal Component Analysis (PCA) was used to describe the data. The analysis reveals 4 significant labelled dimensions from PCA (KMO Test = 0.694), which are Pleasantness (32.03%), Room Effects (25.6%) and Privacy (10.85%). This result proved the consistency of the dimension from the previous study and verified that the soundscape dimension is possibly correlated with two main aspects involving room function and room effects. The perception of the recognized sound, pleasant – unpleasant sound, and expected condition is also provided.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_separator css=”.vc_custom_1624528584150{padding-top: 25px !important;padding-bottom: 25px !important;}”][vc_empty_space][megatron_heading title=”Author keywords” size=”size-sm” text_align=”text-left”][vc_column_text]Acoustic conditions,Objective and subjective measurements,Objective measurement,Room acoustics,Semantic differential,Soundscapes,Subjective measurements,University libraries[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_separator css=”.vc_custom_1624528584150{padding-top: 25px !important;padding-bottom: 25px !important;}”][vc_empty_space][megatron_heading title=”Indexed keywords” size=”size-sm” text_align=”text-left”][vc_column_text]Library,PCA,Room acoustics,Soundscape,Subjective measurement[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_separator css=”.vc_custom_1624528584150{padding-top: 25px !important;padding-bottom: 25px !important;}”][vc_empty_space][megatron_heading title=”Funding details” size=”size-sm” text_align=”text-left”][vc_column_text]This research was supported by the Department of Engineering Physics, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) for providing the acoustics laboratory facilities, particularly for hardware and software for the data analysis and also supported by the Building Physics and Acoustics Laboratory of Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) for the use of CATT-Acoustic license.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_separator css=”.vc_custom_1624528584150{padding-top: 25px !important;padding-bottom: 25px !important;}”][vc_empty_space][megatron_heading title=”DOI” size=”size-sm” text_align=”text-left”][vc_column_text][/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/4″][vc_column_text]Widget Plumx[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_separator css=”.vc_custom_1624528584150{padding-top: 25px !important;padding-bottom: 25px !important;}”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
