Applying protection motivation theory to understand Generation Z students intention to comply with educational software anti piracy law

The concern of software piracy is not limited to software developers but also educational institutions. The purpose of the current study was to investigate the factors contributing to the behavioral intention of Generation Z students’ to comply with educational software anti-piracy laws by utilizing the Protection Motivation Theory (PMT). The results indicated that self-efficacy and response efficacy had significant relationships with the behavioral intention of Generation Z’s intention to comply with educational software anti-piracy laws. Several insights from practical and managerial perspective were also discussed.
