The often used method to lower the viscosity of heavy oil yielding the increase of the production capacity is using thermal recovery. In this paper, high power EM wave usage combined with nano-ferro material is experimentally investigated to heat up the heavy oil in the form of sand-pack to decrease its viscosity. By applying maximum power of the magnetron around 900 W, the heating process of sand-pack is conducted to obtain correlation between the temperature increment affected by the EM wave radiation and the viscosity. From the experimental result, it shows that the temperature affects considerably the viscosity which decreases from 4,412.11 centipoises (cP) on its pour point at 51°C to 134.24 cP at 90°C. This demonstrates the effectiveness of high power EM wave usage emitted by the microwave oven magnetron to decrease the viscosity of heavy oil.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_separator css=”.vc_custom_1624528584150{padding-top: 25px !important;padding-bottom: 25px !important;}”][vc_empty_space][megatron_heading title=”Author keywords” size=”size-sm” text_align=”text-left”][vc_column_text]Electromagnetics,Experimental investigations,Ferro materials,Heavy oil reservoirs,High power,High-frequency electromagnetics,Microwave oven magnetron,Temperature increment[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_separator css=”.vc_custom_1624528584150{padding-top: 25px !important;padding-bottom: 25px !important;}”][vc_empty_space][megatron_heading title=”Indexed keywords” size=”size-sm” text_align=”text-left”][vc_column_text]Electromagnetics (EM) wave,Heavy oil,High power,Nano-ferro material,Viscosity[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_separator css=”.vc_custom_1624528584150{padding-top: 25px !important;padding-bottom: 25px !important;}”][vc_empty_space][megatron_heading title=”Funding details” size=”size-sm” text_align=”text-left”][vc_column_text][/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_separator css=”.vc_custom_1624528584150{padding-top: 25px !important;padding-bottom: 25px !important;}”][vc_empty_space][megatron_heading title=”DOI” size=”size-sm” text_align=”text-left”][vc_column_text]https://doi.org/10.1109/ICEAA.2019.8879004[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/4″][vc_column_text]Widget Plumx[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_separator css=”.vc_custom_1624528584150{padding-top: 25px !important;padding-bottom: 25px !important;}”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
