Effects of temperature and P(O2) on the phase equilibria involving slag, solubility of copper and the Fe3+/Fe2+ ratio in slag have been modeled using available experimental data. Subsolidus phase equilibria and concentration of iron in liquid copper were evaluated as well. Different ways of representing phase equilibria in a quaternary system are illustrated. The slag model, [Ca2+, Cu+, Fe2+, Fe3+][O2−], was developed using the Modified Quasichemical Model (MQM). Liquid metal phase is modeled using the MQM, but as a separate solution, (CuI, FeII, OII). Spinel phase is modeled using the Compound Energy Formalism (CEF) and takes into account the solubility of copper and calcium. A thermodynamic database produced in the present study can be used for predictions in pyrometallurgical processing of copper involving calcium ferrite slags. The database is internally consistent with the binary and ternary sub-systems published earlier, as well as with higher-order systems. It works in the environment of FactSage, ChemApp, ChemSheet and SimuSage software packages.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_separator css=”.vc_custom_1624528584150{padding-top: 25px !important;padding-bottom: 25px !important;}”][vc_empty_space][megatron_heading title=”Author keywords” size=”size-sm” text_align=”text-left”][vc_column_text]Calcium ferrite slag,Compound energy formalisms,Continuous converting,Effects of temperature,FactSage,Modified quasichemical models,Pyrometallurgical processing,Thermodynamic assessment[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_separator css=”.vc_custom_1624528584150{padding-top: 25px !important;padding-bottom: 25px !important;}”][vc_empty_space][megatron_heading title=”Indexed keywords” size=”size-sm” text_align=”text-left”][vc_column_text]Calcium ferrite slag,Continuous converting,Factsage,Solubility of copper[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_separator css=”.vc_custom_1624528584150{padding-top: 25px !important;padding-bottom: 25px !important;}”][vc_empty_space][megatron_heading title=”Funding details” size=”size-sm” text_align=”text-left”][vc_column_text][{‘$’: ‘The authors would like to thank the Australian Research Council Linkage program LP140100480, and industry partners, Atlantic Copper, Aurubis, BHP Billiton Olympic Dam Operation, Kazzinc Glencore, PASAR Glencore, Outotec Oy (Espoo), Anglo American Platinum, Umicore, Rio Tinto Kennecott, Pe?oles and Boliden for the financial and technical support for this research.’}, {‘$’: ‘The authors would like to thank the Australian Research Council Linkage program LP140100480 , and industry partners, Atlantic Copper, Aurubis, BHP Billiton Olympic Dam Operation, Kazzinc Glencore, PASAR Glencore, Outotec Oy (Espoo), Anglo American Platinum, Umicore, Rio Tinto Kennecott, Peñoles and Boliden for the financial and technical support for this research.’}][/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_separator css=”.vc_custom_1624528584150{padding-top: 25px !important;padding-bottom: 25px !important;}”][vc_empty_space][megatron_heading title=”DOI” size=”size-sm” text_align=”text-left”][vc_column_text]https://doi.org/10.1016/j.calphad.2019.101715[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/4″][vc_column_text]Widget Plumx[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_separator css=”.vc_custom_1624528584150{padding-top: 25px !important;padding-bottom: 25px !important;}”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
