The alternation of polarization is motivated by the requirement of microstrip patch antenna-based applications to have another polarization without changing the antenna feeding line as well as other parameters. By inserting a slot over the microstrip patch antenna which is perpendicular to its feeding line, the linear vertical polarization of antenna can be altered into the perpendicular one. The proposed antenna is fed by use of microstrip line feeding technique and deployed on an RT/duroid® 5880 dielectric substrate with the thickness of 0.508mm and the total dimension of 20.2mm × 20.2mm. A slot of 0.65mm × 5.1mm is inserted perpendicular to the feeding line to change the field distribution on the patch surface affecting the alternation of polarization. To demonstrate the capability of proposed antenna in altering polarization, a conventional X-band microstrip patch antenna with the same physical parameters is characterized on the same dielectric substrate for comparison.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_separator css=”.vc_custom_1624528584150{padding-top: 25px !important;padding-bottom: 25px !important;}”][vc_empty_space][megatron_heading title=”Author keywords” size=”size-sm” text_align=”text-left”][vc_column_text]Dielectric substrates,Field distribution,Micro-strip patch antennas,Microstrip-line feeding,Physical parameters, slot,Vertical polarization,X bands[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_separator css=”.vc_custom_1624528584150{padding-top: 25px !important;padding-bottom: 25px !important;}”][vc_empty_space][megatron_heading title=”Indexed keywords” size=”size-sm” text_align=”text-left”][vc_column_text]Altering polarization, microstrip patch antenna,slot,X-band[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_separator css=”.vc_custom_1624528584150{padding-top: 25px !important;padding-bottom: 25px !important;}”][vc_empty_space][megatron_heading title=”Funding details” size=”size-sm” text_align=”text-left”][vc_column_text][/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_separator css=”.vc_custom_1624528584150{padding-top: 25px !important;padding-bottom: 25px !important;}”][vc_empty_space][megatron_heading title=”DOI” size=”size-sm” text_align=”text-left”][vc_column_text]https://doi.org/10.1109/ECTICon.2016.7561419[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/4″][vc_column_text]Widget Plumx[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_separator css=”.vc_custom_1624528584150{padding-top: 25px !important;padding-bottom: 25px !important;}”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
