For a relatively small ratio of the crack depth over cylinder diameter, Modes I and II (in-plane) stress intensity factors (SIFs) at the corner points by FEM were observed to be in good agreements with those by the dual boundary element method (DBEM). Effect of the crack aspect ratio, crack size and loading mode on the corner point singularity was noted. The tearing loading mode was found to promote a greater corner point singularity.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_separator css=”.vc_custom_1624528584150{padding-top: 25px !important;padding-bottom: 25px !important;}”][vc_empty_space][megatron_heading title=”Author keywords” size=”size-sm” text_align=”text-left”][vc_column_text]Corner point,Cylinder diameters,Dual boundary element method,Loading modes,Semi-elliptical surface cracks,Solid cylinders,Technical notes,Tetrahedral meshing[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_separator css=”.vc_custom_1624528584150{padding-top: 25px !important;padding-bottom: 25px !important;}”][vc_empty_space][megatron_heading title=”Indexed keywords” size=”size-sm” text_align=”text-left”][vc_column_text]Corner point singularities,DBEM,FEM,Stress intensity factors,Surface crack[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_separator css=”.vc_custom_1624528584150{padding-top: 25px !important;padding-bottom: 25px !important;}”][vc_empty_space][megatron_heading title=”Funding details” size=”size-sm” text_align=”text-left”][vc_column_text]The authors wish to thank the Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia for the initial financial support through the High Impact Research Grant (UM.C/625/1/HIR/MOHE/ENG/33).[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_separator css=”.vc_custom_1624528584150{padding-top: 25px !important;padding-bottom: 25px !important;}”][vc_empty_space][megatron_heading title=”DOI” size=”size-sm” text_align=”text-left”][vc_column_text]https://doi.org/10.1016/j.engfracmech.2020.107400[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/4″][vc_column_text]Widget Plumx[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_separator css=”.vc_custom_1624528584150{padding-top: 25px !important;padding-bottom: 25px !important;}”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
