From social learning to territorial knowledge based development: Issues in optimizing technopolis in cimahi

Social learning is an entry point in promoting innovative urban development theme to grasp with territorial competitiveness in national even global level. In terms of promoting innovative development theme proposal, communication and interaction are primarily important in initiating such ideas, while common understanding, mutual agreement, and collective action need to be encouraged to facilitate knowledge based development as a spirit of technopolis as an urban development theme in Cimahi. Cimahi City has limited natural resources and needs to maximize the human resource potential to improve its regional competitiveness. Currently, the government is developing its city using the concept of technopolis by building Cimahi Technopark as a means of developing creative industries in Cimahi City, especially in the animation and telematics sector. Recognizing communication and interaction characteristics are initial step in formulating such innovative planning theme namely technopolis. Technopolis can be interpreted as an effort creating propulsive economic activities through commercialization of updated technological based products. So, understanding critical components as well as key actors are important to operate business climate along with current social as well as governance system. To realize the development of technopolis concept that can support the sustainable economic growth of the region, it is necessary to conduct a research related factors – factors that affect the readiness of technopolis development in Cimahi City. The approach in this research is qualitative approach with case study type, with case is Cimahi Technopark development. Data collection is done through interview with purposive sampling with snowball and observation with data analysis method used is content analysis.
