Today, in order to tackle encountered environmental problems, it is important to reduce carbon dioxide emissions which are responsible for the most important greenhouse gas effects. Indonesia, as a member of the Kyoto Protocol, has decided to reduce CO2 emissions by 26% by 2020. Indonesia shall begin a comprehensive study concerning the application of carbon dioxide capture and storage (CCS) immediately to reach the target. Power systems are the first main CO2 emitter sector system, especially those in the oil and gas industry. Therefore, the petroleum engineering department of ITB has decided to write a study concerning the application of carbon dioxide capture and storage (CCS) to the hydrocarbon industry. The main aim of the work is to provide information about the CCS system, the effects of impurities on storage operations, and finally the principal storage possibilities in Indonesia. The Northwest Java Basin is a back-arc basin which consists of many reservoir-like Eocene-Oligocene Talangakar Formation sandstones, a carbonate reef of Baturaja Formation, carbonate of Upper Cibulakan Formation, and carbonates of Parigi Formation. The most promising formations are the Parigi formation of the Northwest Java Basin. This paper presents the preliminary study for determining CO2 storage on a carbonate formation. A brief explanation of the geological setting and comparison with another carbonate CO2 storage is also presented. It is hoped this study will support and accelerate CCS applications in Indonesia, especially in the Northwest Java Basin.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_separator css=”.vc_custom_1624528584150{padding-top: 25px !important;padding-bottom: 25px !important;}”][vc_empty_space][megatron_heading title=”Author keywords” size=”size-sm” text_align=”text-left”][vc_column_text][/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_separator css=”.vc_custom_1624528584150{padding-top: 25px !important;padding-bottom: 25px !important;}”][vc_empty_space][megatron_heading title=”Indexed keywords” size=”size-sm” text_align=”text-left”][vc_column_text][/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_separator css=”.vc_custom_1624528584150{padding-top: 25px !important;padding-bottom: 25px !important;}”][vc_empty_space][megatron_heading title=”Funding details” size=”size-sm” text_align=”text-left”][vc_column_text][/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_separator css=”.vc_custom_1624528584150{padding-top: 25px !important;padding-bottom: 25px !important;}”][vc_empty_space][megatron_heading title=”DOI” size=”size-sm” text_align=”text-left”][vc_column_text][/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/4″][vc_column_text]Widget Plumx[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_separator css=”.vc_custom_1624528584150{padding-top: 25px !important;padding-bottom: 25px !important;}”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
