FTIR-derivative as a green method for simultaneous content determination of caffeine, paracetamol, and acetosal in a tablet compared to HPLC

First, the vibrational spectrometer measured the absorption spectra, and then the distinctive peak for quantification was selected, supported by derivatization. After a series of tests of the validation parameters, we then attempted to determine the contents of the drug. Then, a study comparing our results to those of HPLC, the method from the compendium, was performed. The observations revealed that each active ingredient has a different moiety so that FTIR can measure the specific level of each drug, and the vibrational spectroscopy fulfilled the validation requirement. Although this method showed lower sensitivity than the compendium method, it was still appropriate to determine the three drugs in a tablet. There was no significant difference in our result compared to the HPLC measurement. Moreover, this method exhibits some advantages such as being more rapid, straightforward, efficient, economical, and environmentally friendly.
