Study of performance and emission of a diesel engine in a hybrid system of photovoltaic and diesel engine fueled by diesel fuel, pure palm oil and pure coconut oil for power generation in remote area

Comparison of performance, and emissions are discussed and analyzed in this paper. For performance parameter, efficiency of hybrid system averages 7% higher compared with diesel engine. BSFC of diesel engine average value by using PPaO and PCO are 7.2% and 4.7% higher than by using diesel fuel. However, the BSEC average values are 4.5% and 3.3% lower than the diesel fuel. For the emission parameters, average value of CO2 emissions from the hybrid system is 21.7% lower than the diesel engine, but average value of CO emissions is 31% higher compared to diesel engine.
