Ventilation strategies can be classified by its driving force, wind-driven ventilation and buoyancy-driven ventilation. In Indonesia, which has a hot and humid climate, the traditional ventilation designs are mostly wind-driven ventilation. However, the natural ventilation strategy presumably does not work well in hot-and humid climate due to low wind speed in the environment. Thus, the buoyancy-driven strategies should be developed, but because of the strategy is established in the temperate climate, its implementation to the hot and humid climate needs more investigation. By learning from what has been developed in other climatic region, this study is aimed to investigate the potential of the buoyancy-driven ventilation strategy to the hot and humid climate. The research was a quantitative research that employs Computational Fluid Dynamics. Two conditions of the school building were simulated: the condition of without chimney and with chimney. The results showed that solar chimney can increase average wind speed inside the building. However, its performance in elevation 1 m and 1.5 m was below the performance of building without chimney. The phenomenon suggested that solar chimney in building created higher air velocity in elevation that higher than seating and standing position of elementary school children, 1 m and 1.5 m, although it improved room air velocity average.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_separator css=”.vc_custom_1624528584150{padding-top: 25px !important;padding-bottom: 25px !important;}”][vc_empty_space][megatron_heading title=”Author keywords” size=”size-sm” text_align=”text-left”][vc_column_text][/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_separator css=”.vc_custom_1624528584150{padding-top: 25px !important;padding-bottom: 25px !important;}”][vc_empty_space][megatron_heading title=”Indexed keywords” size=”size-sm” text_align=”text-left”][vc_column_text][/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_separator css=”.vc_custom_1624528584150{padding-top: 25px !important;padding-bottom: 25px !important;}”][vc_empty_space][megatron_heading title=”Funding details” size=”size-sm” text_align=”text-left”][vc_column_text][/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_separator css=”.vc_custom_1624528584150{padding-top: 25px !important;padding-bottom: 25px !important;}”][vc_empty_space][megatron_heading title=”DOI” size=”size-sm” text_align=”text-left”][vc_column_text]https://doi.org/10.1063/1.5046628[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/4″][vc_column_text]Widget Plumx[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_separator css=”.vc_custom_1624528584150{padding-top: 25px !important;padding-bottom: 25px !important;}”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
