Inner-city redevelopment strategy: The role of agents in the development process: A lesson from Indonesia

What may be called new are calls for the state to withdraw from the development process and the fact that public-private partnership has become so important. The roles of public-sector professionals have changed: their paternalistic attitude has given way to a democratic approach that seeks public participation under an urban management umbrella.
