Development of web based information system for indonesian anthropometry data

Unfortunately, Indonesian anthropometry database is not provided for some reasons: technical problem of anthropometry measurements and data compilation challenges. The absence of Indonesian anthropometric database escalating various problems in design process, thus need further solution. Anthropometry measures has been conducted manually for years in Indonesia, however, it had several constraint in practical, such as the need of specific tools of measurement, and time required to obtain a set of anthropometric data. Various new methods have been developed and implemented, i.e. digital processing of anthropometric measures. Not only gave better accuracy and time efficiency, the latter also gave an evidence of lower cost of measurement than manually one. Purpose of this study is to develop information system that can be used for compiling anthropometric data already collected separately all over Indonesia. Web is selecting as the basis of information system, for easiness to use and practical consideration of information system: the speed and bandwidth. Application of information system is divided into two intended parts: data provider and user. Data provider refers to universities or other parties that responsible for anthropometric data collection, by manually input or digital image picture. User is the one who needs the anthropometric data for design process. The information system will be developing in advance for its application, however, preliminary testing reveal positive outcomes. This information system is planned to be launched in near term.
