Urban development in Bandung Metropolitan Region: a transformation to a Desa-Kota region

It also examines the extent to which the urban development in BMR fits McGee’s hypothesis of ‘Desa-Kota’ formation in Asian countries. In addition, the effectiveness of counter magnet policy is critically examined. The recent characteristics of BMR basically confirm McGee’s hypothesis of a Desa-Kota region. Therefore, the spatial development policy for this region should take this phenomonen into account.
