The frequency of the damper is tuned to a particular structural frequency so that the damper will resonate out of phase with the structural motion. Using this system, the mass damper can be attached at any location and not limited to the top of the structure. To evaluate the effectiveness of PTMD, a multi-degree of freedom system excited by various earthquake base accelerations is considered. Numerical simulations, which illustrate the application of the theory to the set of example structures are used for comparison of different mass dampers. An assessment of the optimal placement location of PTMDs in the structure is also presented.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_separator css=”.vc_custom_1624528584150{padding-top: 25px !important;padding-bottom: 25px !important;}”][vc_empty_space][megatron_heading title=”Author keywords” size=”size-sm” text_align=”text-left”][vc_column_text]Different mass,Earthquake excitation,Mass dampers,Multi degree of freedom systems,Optimal placements,Out of phase,Passive control,PTMD,Structural frequencies,Structural motion,Structural response,Tuned mass dampers[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_separator css=”.vc_custom_1624528584150{padding-top: 25px !important;padding-bottom: 25px !important;}”][vc_empty_space][megatron_heading title=”Indexed keywords” size=”size-sm” text_align=”text-left”][vc_column_text]Earthquake excitation,Passive control,Passive tuned mass damper,PTMD[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_separator css=”.vc_custom_1624528584150{padding-top: 25px !important;padding-bottom: 25px !important;}”][vc_empty_space][megatron_heading title=”Funding details” size=”size-sm” text_align=”text-left”][vc_column_text][/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_separator css=”.vc_custom_1624528584150{padding-top: 25px !important;padding-bottom: 25px !important;}”][vc_empty_space][megatron_heading title=”DOI” size=”size-sm” text_align=”text-left”][vc_column_text][/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/4″][vc_column_text]Widget Plumx[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_separator css=”.vc_custom_1624528584150{padding-top: 25px !important;padding-bottom: 25px !important;}”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
