Karsa Loka Vol. 21 “Hoe Product Innovation to Meet Indonesian National Standards (SNI) Case Study of IKM Iron Craftsmen in Mekarmaju Village, Bandung Regency”

A hoe is a simple tool that is commonly used in the daily life of farmers. However, behind the simplicity of the form and function of the hoe, this tool has an important role in the development of human civilization, starting from its use in farming activities to gardening. In addition, the process of making a hoe also has a fairly complicated process, according to the taste and tenacity of a blacksmith in producing this tool. Although the hoe has an important role in the life of the Indonesian people, efforts towards standardization of the mighty hoe have not been done much.

Dr. Eng. Akhmad Ardian Korda, S.T., M.T. in collaboration with IKM actors in Mekar Maju Village, Pasir Jambu District, Bandung Regency, seeks to provide assistance in producing innovations for hoe tools that are in accordance with the Indonesian National Standard (SNI). How did Dr. Eng. Akhmad Ardian Korda, S.T., M.T. and SMEs in producing hoes in accordance with SNI? What are the obstacles encountered during this standardization process?
