The 2nd Workshop on Bioenergy, CCS and BECCS: “Enhancing Carbon Emission Reduction Through Bioenergy and Carbon Capture & Storage”

CALL FOR PAPER

A collaboration of Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR), President’s Delivery Unit for Development Monitoring and Oversight (UKP-PPP), Indonesia National Committee for Applied System Analysis (INCASA) and School of Business and Management, Institut Teknologi Bandung (SBM ITB) invites academicians and practitioners to present their best paper in the area of Bioenergy, Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS), and Bioenergy & Carbon Capture and Storage (BECCS) in “The Workshop on Bioenergy, CCS and BECCS: Enhancing Carbon Emission Reduction through Bioenergy and Carbon Capture & Storage” on 24 August 2013 in Jakarta.

Following up the success of the First Workshop in 21-23 September 2012, this workshop aims to identify and discuss the efforts at any stages, from an academic research to an implementation, in promoting bioenergy, CCS and BECCS in Indonesia’s context.

In general, the research topics that will be discussed in this workshop deals with the national strategic policy, such as:

1. Policies and Regulation of Bioenergy and CCS
2. Sustainability indicators for Bioenergy
3. Potency, Technology and Application of CCS (including Capture, Transport, Storage and Utilization)
4. BECCS Technology and Application (including modelling)
5. Bioenergy availability (such as biomass, city waste, biofuel crops, agricultural waste)
6. Bioenergy emission and carbon stock (including LCA and MRV)
7. Land use issues in Bioenergy and CCS context

WORKSHOP OBJECTIVES

The main objectives of this workshop can be described as follows:

1. Documenting research finding, consultation projects that have been built by researchers from all over Indonesia and the world in relation to bioenergy, CCS and BECCS.
2. Mapping the research finding and consultation projects that can be implemented by decision makers in government.
3. Initiating strategic roadmap of bioenergy, CCS and BECCS development and implementation in Indonesia.

PRESENTER REGISTRATION

We invite academicians and practitioners to become presenters in this workshop. Prospective presenters for the workshop should submit the following documents:

1. Paper submission. The manuscript may have been published before such as in journals, proceedings, research reports, etc., or unpublished manuscript. Your manuscript may be written both in Bahasa Indonesia and English (preferable). The manuscripts that have previously been published can be sent directly without reformatting. While for new paper manuscript may be written in any format and typed neatly.
   Poster submission. Poster has to be submitted according to the provided format and is written in English.
2. Filling the curriculum vitae (from the attached file or can be downloaded at the website) web Ditjen EBTKE (www.ebtke.esdm.go.id)
3. All necessary documents should be sent via email to:beccs2013@gmail.com. Deadline for paper submission is 21 June 2013 (Friday).
4. Selected papers will be announced by the committee no later than 22 July 2013 (Monday).
5. Selected presenters have to prepare a slide presentation and send to organizer no later than 19 August 2013.
6. Presentation will be held on 24 August 2013.

PRESENTER FACILITIES

Presenters who pass the review stage will make a presentation in Jakarta and will be made available by the following facilities:

1. one night accommodation (for speakers who live outside JABODETABEK)
2. domestic transportation cost (reimbursement)

SELECTION CRITERIA

Incoming papers will be reviewed by review team. Each prospective presenter may submit only one paper, so we expect you to send your best work related to workshop topics. Criteria that are used in the review process are:

1. Originality
2. Relevancy to the workshop topics
3. Potential application in national policy

PRESENTATION
The presentation slide should be written in English, while the oral presentation could be delivered in Bahasa. The material presented in the workshop at least covers the following aspects:

1. The importance and  the relevance to the workshop topics
2. Research steps
3. Results and its potential applications
4. Demonstration of model or simulation (if any)

IMPORTANT DATES

1. Deadline for paper submission : 21 June 2013
2. Announcement of the selected presenters: 22 July 2013
3. Slide presentation submission: 19 August 2013
4. Workshop presentation: 24 August 2013
